Laundry Day at the Anderles

On Wednesday, Michael and I decided to go out to lunch.  As soon as we got into the car.....it wouldn't start.  (We are SOOOO tired of this car and all of the accompanying problems!)  At first we thought it was just a dead battery, but after a "Michael" inspection....he discovered that the battery was fine....the battery cable split in half.  Perfect.

So, our day consisted of walking to the nearest auto-parts store which was about an hour walk (in 100 degree weather, thank you).  On the way home....it started pouring rain (we just come to expect things like this now).

Long story short....it is fixed...for now.  We plan on purchasing a new car within the next month and cannot wait.

We haven't been able to get our washer and dryer up to our second floor apartment yet, so we headed to the Anderles yesterday for a laundry day.  We were able to babysit Jake all morning.  He had Michael and I laughing the entire time....he has so much personality!  

Jake loves his Uncle Michael!  They played the whole morning.

Whenever I brought out the camera, Jake would automatically look at it (his mama trained him well)....but getting him to smile for the camera is a task in itself.

We have the sweetest nephews in the world and are so happy to live closer to them now.  It was nice to spend the day with Mary and the boys.  Thank you for letting us take over your laundry room for the day!

H is for Humidity

After we got back from our honeymoon, I had two interviews...one for a private school in College Station (2nd grade) and one for Pasadena ISD (4th grade).  Both interviews went extremely well and I accepted the job in Pasadena.  I will begin as a 4th grade reading/social studies teacher in August.


All we needed was to find a new place to live in the Houston area.  Obviously, we have a german shepherd which created some issues (an "aggressive breed").  We had an apartment locator try to help us out because we were coming up empty.  I would say over 70 apartments were called and we could count on one hand the number that would take Sam.  Michael kept looking and found a nice place in Friendswood, which we moved into last week.  It will be a little further of a drive for me everyday but we are in a much safer area.


It has been rainy and humid every single day that we have been here (which has ruined my plans of laying at the pool and going to the beach).  There is also a BILLION people and cars everywhere you go...Houston is definitely a big adjustment from College Station.  


I will try to take some pictures of the apartment to post, as well as put up some more wedding pictures!

Honeymoon in Colorado

The day after the wedding, we began the two day drive to Pagosa Springs, CO.  The first night we stayed in Canyon, TX at the Wall's house while they were out of town.  They left us a giftcard for a fun, local restaurant, so we were able to relax and enjoy a nice dinner out after a day of driving.  We left bright and early the next morning and made it to Colorado around 3pm.  We stayed at my Uncle Chris and Aunt Debbi's summer house.  It was so nice to feel at home while on a vacation.

We hiked a trail called 'Four Mile Falls' on our first full day.  We kept going at one point where the trail ended....(it looked like it continued) and had a near death experience.  Little did we know that 'Four Mile Falls' is really eight miles when you finish....or at least when the two of us finished.

The scenery was beautiful and there was still so much snow.

The next day we went to Mesa Verde National Park.  Once we paid at the entrance to get in, we had to drive at least another 25 miles going 25mph on the windiest roads you've ever seen.  For someone who gets car sick easily (ME!) it was not the funnest drive.  

We went on the 'Cliff Palace' tour and were able to go and walk around the dwellings.  I think we were some of the only Americans on our tour. Who knew Mesa Verde was so popular with tourists from other countries?

We did a lot of hiking in our week in CO.  The picture below is from a hike in Piedra canyon.  We were able to walk right along the river.  We saw a snake...and then ran most of the trail back to the car :)  

Treasure Falls

We also visited a hot springs resort.  They had over 20 different pools of water (including a river) with temps ranging from 38-114 degrees.

We pretty much felt like locals by the end of the trip.  It was a wonderful way to begin our married life together and we can't wait to go back.

On the drive home, we stayed again at the Wall's house in Canyon.  We were treated to a yummy steak and potato dinner and had fun hanging out with our family that we don't get to see very much.

We arrived back in College Station the next afternoon.  While we were unloading the car, we got the call that Mary was in labor and precious baby Drew was on his way!  Andrew James Anderle was born on June 8th weighing in at 6lbs. 10oz. and was 21in. long.

We are so blessed to have not one, but TWO awesome nephews and are so excited to watch them grow up.

Our Wedding

Michael and I got married on May 30th at 7F Lodge in College Station.  It was a small wedding with family and close friends.  Our marriage had been a long time coming, so we were both so happy to finally say 'I Do'.   Michael is the best person I know and I am so proud to call myself his wife.

Here is just a quick preview from 'D Photography'.  We just got in the rest of the pictures, so I will post a lot more when I can!

Texas A&M Graduation

We had quite a graduation weekend back in May!  Michael graduated on a Friday night and I graduated the next afternoon.  One A&M graduation is normally enough for anyone, especially when they are 3-4 hours long.  Meemaw, Peepaw, Dad, and Mom sat through BOTH of ours and we had several other family members come up to celebrate with us and attend one of the other.  We are now members of the Association of Former Students and proudly sport a 'Century Club Member' decal on our car.   :)

Everyone came back to the house after to celebrate with BBQ and cake. 

 We are so happy with our decision to attend Texas A&M University!  We have had a wonderful four years here in College Station and met so many wonderful people.  

We can't wait to come back to football and basketball games and actually SIT DOWN.  :)
